Awakening
The Dictionay defines awakening as;
n : the act of waking; "it was an early awakening"; "it was the waking up he hated most" [syn: wakening, waking up], to awake; waken.
Most otherkin use this term to define when they because aware of what they were inside. It's the realization that they are not the same as everyone else and that there souls and not of human existance. The one thing that all type of kin have in common is that our souls are different from our bodies. Different people and different types of kin deal with this in different ways. Our goal is to get as many awakening stories as possible from different fae to put on this page. This is done in hopes that it will help others along there path to discovery.
Discovering what you are is no easy task. It is not a thing to be taken lightly. I do not recommend assuming you are something just because it seems glamorous to you. It is only decieving yourself. It is a long process of discovery that often starts with a feeling of not belonging or feeling strange in your own skin. It takes alot of looking within yourself and your own habits.
Awakening stories will be coming to this page soon. :)

FaeInTheShadows -
I've always been what I am. I just came to realize it a while ago when I met others that were similar to myself. I've always been a child of nature when I was younger i've play in the fields, forests, and climb trees all the time. I loved nature and it helped me grow into what I am today. Through meditation and alot of research I found myself. It wasn't anything easy nor would I let anyone think that it was easy to discover myself. Heck I still haven't discovered my full self.
I spent alot of time just searching, and battling my inner demons so to speak. I thought at first this can't be real i'm just a mundane old person. But deep inside I knew that I wasn't just like everyone else even though i've tried hard all my life to be. I talk to trees, care for wounded and abadonded animals and love all mother natures creations. The smack in the head telling me what I was really came after I meditated and felt the presence of wings. That's really what started me on my journey but deep down i've always been what I am and I will always be what I am.
